Hike Nethybridge, Scotland

 Introduction This evening I am providing information and images on a group hike undertaken in the Nethy Bridge region of the Scottish Highlands.   Green Lochan Information and images of the hike around Nethy Bridge. Nethy Bridge is a small village in the Strathspey region which is located about thirty-five miles S.E. of Inverness . NB: Nethy is derived from the Gaelic Neitheach and apparently means 'the pure one'.  Benefiting from favourable weather conditions, the hike covered a route from Glenmore to Nethy Bridge via Lochan Uaine (Green Lochan) and Ryvoan *Bothy. (*  A bothy offers very basic overnight accommodation for hikers.There are  no facilities. No tap, no sink, no beds, no lights, and, even if there is a fireplace, perhaps nothing to burn. Perthshire in Winter

Introduction  This evening, I am reporting on a winter time visit to Perthshire in central Scotland, about 2 hours from Glasgow . This trip was inspired by unusual combination of prolonged sunshine, blue skies and a landscape covered by a few feet of light, powder snow.   Sheep in winter, at Killin   Information on the winter trip to Perthshire Overall, the conditions provided superb photographic opportunities, as illustrated herein. Bird Watching and Photography-Scotland

Fishing in Scotland

 Introduction  This evening, I am posting a portfolio of images with theme of sport fishing in Scotland.  Fishing Beat on River Tay, Dalguise, Scotland Summary information on Fishing in Scotland Scotland offers a wide range of fishing opportunities via an extensive range of lochs (lakes), rivers, lakes (fisheries) and sea angling. The main freshwater fish are salmon, trout, grayling and pike. March to October us the typical fishing season although dates differ from river to river. The key rivers are Tay, Spey and Tweed.  Introduction This afternoon, I am reporting on an excellent day trip into Perthshire, central Scotland.  Goin’ fishing-on River Tay at Dalguise. Introduction This evening I am reporting on an exhibition titled 'Shifting Light, Silent Land' by artist, Kayla Spence. This was held at Glasgow 's Six Foot Gallery, Washington Street.   Information on the Exhibition  Kayla explores the imposing landscapes that surround us all for her exhibition.  She is based in Aberdeen and graduated from the Gray's School of Art in 2024. Kayla was a participant on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year , an experience that gave her the confidence to produce a solo exhibition and has acted as an anchor for the development of her practice post-graduation. Using a restricted colour palette, primarily in oil and graphite, Kayla explores concepts of nation, solitude, and place through abstracted Scottish landscapes. The exhibition marks a significant moment in Kayla's artistic journey as she challenges and reflects on her past practice.
