Morecambe Bay Mudflats

Image
Morecombe Bay Today, I paid a visit to Morecambe Bay in N.W England  This is a 120 sq mile expanse of mudflats and sand which has been designated a World Heritage Site.   Mud layers The particular site was accessed via the town of Bolton le Sands Care is required because the tidal reach is 10m or 33 feet. At time of visit the tide was well out. As will be evident from image below there are dangers here. In 2004, twenty-one Chinese cockle pickers were caught unawares by the incoming tide and drowned.   Sandy vista    Birds and sand This site should appeal to naturalists and bird watchers. I encountered horse riders, dog walkers and some bird life.A superb recreational area when the weather conditions are right.     Between the sand and the shore A great spot for photography!   Water channel
