Rob Roy, Scottish Legend.

Rob Roy (1671-1734) was a complex character whose exploits have elevated him to ‘legend’ status. He was the well educated son of a Clan Chieftain who survived in a treacherous and violent world. He fought in uprisings against the government, was outlawed, bankrupted, ran protection rackets and came close to being deported, yet he survived to a good age by the standards of the day and died of natural causes in his own bed. For most of his life Rob Roy’s  home was in the Loch Katrine and Loch Lomond areas of the Trossachs National Park which is renowned for its scenery. → Political and Religious Background Rob Roy’s life and exploits should be interpreted against a backcloth of religious changes which in turn had triggered a change in the Royal Family.
