Glenlivet: One of Scotland's top whisky brands

This evening, I am posting information on Glenlivet Distillery which is located at Ballindalloch, Banffshire  about 50 miles S.E.of Inverness in the Speyside region of Scotland.

Distilling here has a long history, dating back to 1774, Distilling on the site commenced 1859 when a new distillery was constructed by the Smith family,Sole right to use the name ‘The Glenlivet’ was awarded to John Gordon Smith in 1880 .

Glenlivet is now part of the France domiciled, Pernod Ricard group through Chivas Brothers.
With capacity at about 21m litres p.a.and over 6m bottle sales p.a. Glenlivet is vying with Glenfiddich for position as number 1 in terms of global sales of singe malt Scotch Whisky.

Glenlivet uses seven pairs of stills and sixteen wooden washbacks.

This distillery is popular with visitors and rolling tours (with tastings) are provided throughout the day.
