Port Askaig, Islay

 Introduction

This afternoon, I am posting information on Port Askaig on the island of Islay which is located off the west coast of Scotland.

 Information on Port Askaig

Here is a tiny residential community together with hotel, shop and lifeboat station.However, Port Askaig is an important ferry connection linking northern Islay with nearby Jura to the north and Kennacraig on the Scottish mainland, about two hours to the east. The port experiences high volumes of traffic attributed to the whisky industry on Islay and Jura and tourism.
