Crarae Garden, Scotland
Introduction
This afternoon, I am posting a portfolio of images taken during a visit to Crarae Garden in Argyll, West of Scotland.
Information on Crarae Garden
This is a National Trust property extending to about 50 acres of woodland themed flora centred around the Crarae Burn (stream). Location is close to Loch Fyne, about 11 miles south of Inveraray. Other facts:
-
Crarae is modelled on a Himalayan, woodland theme.
-
Here can be found many varieties of rhododendron, azalea, carmelia and magnolia.
- The garden features waterfalls, conifers and bridges.
- Scotland’s national collection of Nothofagus (a genus of trees and shrubs native to the southern hemisphere) is located at Crarae.
I was very impressed by the diversity of colour shades produced by the wide range of plants, trees and shrubs.
For visitors with an interest in pre-history, the site contains a Neolithic tomb.
