Information on the Artist

Mariia was born in the Ukraine in 2003. She commenced painting when very young. At the age of 9 years she enrolled in her hometown's art school and completed her studies by the age of 14 years.Subsequently, she continued art studies through private lessons with a local artist.

Following commencement of the Russo-Ukranian War Mariia moved to Scotland. This followed online studies of architecture and design at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. In Scotland Mariia pursued her passion for art by starting an HND course in 'Contemporary Art Practice' in Aberdeen.

Mariia's artwork is grounded in the exploration of human beings and their relationships with religion. This follows an upbringing steeped in religious observance which allows her to draw inspiration from the aesthetics of Orthodox and Catholic churches.

This post connects nicely with Scottish art, architecture and culture.
