This evening, I am reprising a day tour of Cornwall which is a county in the S.W. tip of England. Cornwall is a popular tourist destination with many quaint harbours and villages.Doc Martin is filmed in the county.

First, we departed our lodgings in Plymouth, Devon and embarked on a tour commencing with a 75 minute drive west, to Mevagissey, where the tour group split into two with separate sub-groups visiting the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The Eden Project dates from 2001 and comprises two biomes plus outdoor gardens located in a reclaimed kaolinite pit. The biomes are constructed of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal inflated plastic cells supported by steel frames. One biome houses rainforest plants and the other Mediterranean plants.Outdoors is a garden focused on temperate regions.Overall, there are thousands of plant species sourced from a wide range of climates and environments.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan These were the private gardens of a mansion which have been in the same family since 1569.The gardens fell in to decline post WW1 but were recovered 1992-1996. Here there is an Italian garden, walled gardens, melon yard, flower garden, glasshouses, a pineapple pit, vinery, citrus house, peach house and more in an area covering 80 hectares.
