Hidcote Manor Garden in English Cotswolds

Hidcote Manor Garden

This evening, I am posting a selection of images taken during a visit to Hidcote Manor Gardens in the Cotswolds region of England. Location is about 100 miles N.W. of London.

Hidcote ranks as one of England's premier gardens. Summary background information as follows:

  • Created over a period of some 40 years commencing 1907 by wealthy American, Lawrence Johnston.
  • A 'garden of rooms' influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.
  • Contains plants and trees collected by Johnston during his extensive, plant-hunting travels around the world.
  • Within the garden can be found Roses, Echium, Meconopsis and Lupins.
  • Visitors are drawn in through a network of narrow pathways into intricate and secluded gardens featuring plants and flowers rich in diversity.
  • The subtle and vibrant colours provide superb opportunities for photography throughout the seasons.
  • Owned by heritage organisation, The National Trust and open to the public.
  • Near to popular tourist destination of Chipping Campden.
