Alnwick Castle Garden

Grand Cascade, Alnwick Castle

This evening, I am posting information on a relatively new, 21st century designed garden, at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, about 35 miles north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in N.E. England.

This garden was the brainchild of the Duchess of Northumberland with emphasis on sensory experiences.

At Alnwick can be found a somewhat eclectic mix which includes:

  • Cherry Orchard
  • Bamboo Labyrinth
  • Serpent Garden
  • Poison Garden

At the centre sits the Grand Cascade down which tumbles 7260 gallons of water per minute. This flow is electronically manipulated to provide elaborate water displays every 30 minutes, Around the Cascade can be found hornbeam pergolas.
