Oban Harbour Sightseeing
Introduction
This evening, I am reporting on a seal watching and sightseeing trip around Oban Harbour, off the west of Scotland.
Seal Colony,
This short trip lasted about one hour and encompassed:
- Views of the ruined Dunollie Castle (Clan MacDougall).
- The Hutcheson Monument, an obelisk to a shipping company founder.
- A salmon farm.
- Island of Kerrara.
- Oban Harbour
- The ‘Dog Stone,’ a geological feature which legend suggests was where the giant Fingal tethered his dog, Bran whilst Fingal hunted in the Hebrides. Fingal is a mythological giant with Irish connections.
